new member, enthused owner

hello all, i'm new to this, so bear with me.
i have a gz125 which i am changing to suit my own tastes, and i am in need of information to help me do so.
i would like to know if anyone knows what wheels will fit onto the standard forks & rear arm, whats the biggest (and widest) i can go, and how easy is it to convert the rear to brake disc & caliper set-up?
i know this may be a bit much to ask as a new user, but any input would be much appreciated.

Danny

Welcome, Danny.

I suspect that you won't get a lot of help from the folks that frequent here.......or any place else for that matter.......not because we don't want to help but because we can't.
The people here are mostly riders and not mechanics; almost NONE do mods as extensive as you propose.

Indeed, mods like that on a bike that small are VERY rare.

Good luck with your project......if that is what you REALLY want to do. Just be careful that you don't end up creating a machine that is dangerous (or impossible) to ride !!

My personal opinion: What you propose (changing out the wheels) is NOT practical; maybe not even possible.

P.S. What/where is ramsgate??

ramsgate is in kent (england)
i appreciate your honesty with me.
i am however fully confident (and competent) of my skills as i have been a mechanic for 9 years and i have a great fascination with modifying anything and everything, so i am sure i will create a safe vehicle, and one that may inspire others to do so (if i am that lucky, LOL)

I wish you the best in your project!! :2tup:
Do you have something else to ride in the mean time?

You might want to a UK or something to your profile.

If that is the case, I think what you propose is NOT a wise thing to do......for several reasons.

It may be a moot point, however, because I suspect you will find that NOTHING fits without extensive frame modification..........which would REALLY not be wise on your only vehicle.

Re: new member, enthused owner

I understand your concerns, if needs be I can use a friends bike. I'm thinking about using the rear arm off a cbr600rr as they're the same diameter at the lever point of the arm, I'll obviously have to widen the hole for the pinion bolt but otherwise its a straight swap, so I can have a decent sized rear wheel and swinging arm if all goes well, lol

Well I hope you keep LOL.
I've been riding and wrenching on bikes for about 40 years and in all that time, I have almost NEVER seen a project like you are proposing turn out good.
There is always a first time, I guess.
Good luck.

P.S. If you are not happy with your present bike, why not trade it for another one ???

I don't think it would matter what id have, id always want something different, I've never seen a production bike that I could honestly say I wouldn't change in one way or another, lol, nevermind, when I'm finished ill put a few pics up on here to show you what I've done.
