HIT and Run

So get this !

Go downtown to pick up a book to learn Guitar at the library.. not even 10 mins in the building, I come out and a cop is inspecting my bike, so i think no problem its parked within the boundaries and to early to be ticketed...So whats the problem officer....

"Well I was cruising by and noticed the bike on the ground, after speaking with witnesses i gathered that a woman in a Suzuki Sidekick backed up into your bike. I picked it up and a yellow paper was left with a number, if its a false number call in a hit and run"

All damage includes.....Smashed Road Krome Windshield. scraped and scuffs to front left turn signal, left handle cap, bent clutch, and the best of all!!! leaked gas all over my gas tank!!
the total cost to bring the bike back to original will be 300 plus... and thanks to insurance policies... whats the point of claiming !!! yay !!! I love taking my wallet out and throwing money into the air!!

ERGGHHHH

Re: HIT and Run

So it was a fake phone number? A true hit and run? If not, her insurance should pay for everything.

Re: HIT and Run

That sucks bro. I worry about that everytime I park in a lot. I try to pull the bike in way to the top of the spot so they have a chance to stop before they hit it. If the number is fake, (didn't realize people were that devious) I'd post a sign at the library "to the lady that drives the Suzuki Sidekick that hit my Suzuki GZ." Then, at least, she won't be able to get books out anymore without risking getting busted.

Good luck. Nice to hear stories about policemen protecting and serving too. Helps offset the less flattering ones that tend to dominate the news.

Re: HIT and Run

Canuck, hopefully the driver will do the right thing. With our government sponsored insurance they will probably want to find you partially at fault for being legally parked and off the bike. Where abouts on the Island are you located ??

Re: HIT and Run

Was the phone number accurate? Was the gal able and willing to offer restitution?

If not, well, revenge is a dish best served cold! She will, presumably, return to the scene of the crime at some point.

Re: HIT and Run

In the wonderful Province of British Columbia we are all insured for basic foolishness by the government. It is mandatory and is part of the deal when you get your plate. A touch spendy compared to private insurance but at least everything on the road is insured. Basic coverage for everyone is a good thing. If you cancel coverage you have to return the plate. On my VStrom I got private ins. coverage for collision, fire and such because it is a bit less $$. The Ranger is all government ins. coverage.
