How much "play" do you have when your seat is locked?
I purchased a used 2001 gz. When the seat is locked, it can still jiggle around just a bit... more like up & down in the front. Not so much side to side. Is that normal? How can I double check ? If I pull the latch cable, how much of the "clip" should slip under the lever?
Thanks. Don't want to fly off the thing!!!! M Login or Register to Remove Ads |

It is possible greenhorn is missing a rubber bumper from the bottom of the seat. Maybe some one could post a pic of their seat with the bumpers in place.

Mine is a 2002, and the seat is a VERY tight fit - no play that I can feel.

Re: How much "play" do you have when your seat is locked?
Are you sure that the seat is locked in? The first time I took my seat off, I put it back on and thought it was weird because it was moving a bit. I realized that you have to use the key to lock it back into place. It tends to be hard to do on my bike, and if I take the seat off, it takes several tries to get it back on snugly.
Of course, I could be the only one who was silly enough as to not think that it would need the key to get back into place when it needed the key to get out of place! |

Mine doesn't need the key to lock back down. You might puff some graphite powder on the lock mechanism (where the seat grabs), in fact it's probably a good idea to put it in the lock cylinder and ignition key holes too.
