I've actually pulled a cover for a quick fix. Had the old gasket rip in
half. Half stuck to case. Half stuck to cover.
Made my repair. Applied gasket sealer to one side.
Usually the cover.
Replace the cover but only gently tighten fasteners. Then in 15 or 20 I'll tighten
fasteners properly. Let sit for a few hours. Then refill oil.
Done this a few times.
Never leaked so far.
King of cheap....
