The best process for choking and starting in the morning (or any time you crank it after sitting for a while) is to apply choke, and ride off. You turn the choke off once you've gotten the bike up to speed. Unless you are immediately going to come to a stop, like within 30 seconds of taking off, then the running suction of the bike will take care of everything else.
These aren't like cars in the North where you have to go outside 30 minutes before you ride and "warm it up". Choke, crank, & go - is the best method for getting it started. Also, unless it was the hottest summer day or I had only been off of the bike for like 30 minutes before restarting, I had to use choke just about every time. It's completely normal.
