Upgrade carb to PWK28

I fought with the stupid Mikuni long enough. Even tried a couple others and was NOT happy with how they ran. Very sluggish and wheezy on the top end. So I went off-script and bought a PWK28 off Amazon and installed. Both ends are just a few mm smaller so the fit pretty well and clamped down nicely. It does seem to be a little shorter so I had to take the air box loose to get it to fit tight. I just put a block between it and the toolbox tray to keep it supported. Needed a new throttle cable as the ends on the OEM one were not good. But any generic dirt bike 250 throttle cable works. Sooooo much better! Throttle response is amazingly more crisp and pulls much harder. Best mod yet!

That's awesome. I'm not really fond of the stock BS32SS CV carb either, mainly because of its poor performance when cold. I guess you wouldn't have as much issue with that in TX as I do in IL. I have to preheat the stock carb if I want to start at temperatures below 35F.

Is it a Mikuni made carb or a knockoff? Did you have to rejet, and did you note what jet sizes you used?

You just removed the return cable, and run pull open/spring return?

It's a knock off of a Keihin PWK. I have jacked with the jetting some. It came stock with a 38 pilot, 120 main and clip in the 3rd position on the needle. The kit I bought came with some extra jets and I ended up using a 35 pilot at 1.75 turns out on the a/f screw, the 120 main and moved the clip up to the 4th position, (2nd from top). Still using stock airbox and stock pipe. I haven't had to use the choke yet to start is and I've been jacking with it as low as 20 degrees. Last week was in the 40's but this week we're back in the 70's.
I used a throttle cable off a taotao 110 atv. One I had laying around that had the same carb fitting. Needs to be a small nub, not the round barrels like on the stock Suzuki. Only modification I had to do was tap the twist throttle for the cable but that was very easy as it was plastic. Has been working great, no issues. I completely removed the oem throttle cables but just tied up the choke cable out of the way. Not useable with the new carb.
