03 GZ250 power died after hitting starter button.

I have an issue where I have no elecrtical power on my motorcycle. I recently tried to start it and when i hit the starter it clicked once and lost all power, i've tested the battery and it's at 12.4V. the electrical cords seem to be solid, no obvious shorting / grounding issues. and none of the fuses under the seat appear to be burned out. i noticed theres a relay next to the fuse box, could the draw have knocked it out or something else? I've tried to run through starting procedures a few times now and nothing seems to be working, no lights, nothing. Thanks for any help you guys can provide, i'm pretty stumped.

Have you tested the fuses, or just looked at them?

Also, 12.4 V is low. Battery may be dead. Measure it while starting, or directly after trying to start, and see what's left.

So I tried to jump it and it worked, started up but the lights were extremely dim and it idles a little rough, checked the batter it's idling between 4.5v - 5.1v. When I try to give it a little throttle it pops as soon as I open the throttle and wont rev. Not sure if I should try a new battery or search for a short / grounding issue. If it's the battery any recommendations on where to get a good new one from? Thanks for the help all.

Sounds like you have a charging issue.....Start with regulator/rectifier.

5V means your battery is dead. First, get a new battery and a proper charger like a Battery Tender. Charge overnight before putting it in the bike.

Agreed.......But if it's charging properly should show at least 12.3 when running.

Good news everyone! new battery seems to have been the trick, stuck it in and started right up. Bike idles around 13.5v. now I just need to get a new front tire put on it and a muffler, guy I bought it from was a genius and decided to drill holes in the back of it so every time I ride I'm sitting on a freaking tin can. Thanks for the help guys!
