Went to Alaska found a gz
Hi this looks like the place for gz riders.
Anyway last year about this time I found round trip airfair to alaska for $360 and decided to take a break. I arrived in anchorage at 5:30am and started looking on craigslist for a bike and found a 06 gz 50 miles away in wasilla. By 10:00am I was heading for the camping section at walmart on the 06 gz with 1600 miles on the od for $1300. All it needed was a valve adjust as the exh was a little tight, I did it right there in the walmart lot. 17 days and 2400 miles later I pulled the carb and battery, put the bike and camping gear in storage and flew home. free photo hosting I just bought my ticket for this year and I plan on riding the dalton hwy to deadhorse. Haven't camped in 40 years but I have been to Alaska years ago. Beautiful state with lots of nice scenery and friendly folks.
More pics of your Northerly trips please. |

Thanks for the pics. They do bring back a lot of great memories of our trip to Alaska and the Yukon. While we were driving to Anchorage from Fairbanks we were amazed at the mountain range to the west of the road. All red capped with white. Fire Weed and snow for the cap.
Did you ever get to North Pole Alaska? Just 14 miles south of Fairbanks. It is Xmas all year long there and the zip code is Ho Ho Ho. All of Santa's mail goes there. We lucked out with the weather in Sept of 86. 82 F with sunshine driving into Fairbanks and we were assured it was an unusual fall. The whole trip was warm and sunny. |
