cant go above 40

So iv taken the interstate on my gz plenty of times but its usually a shortride on the interstate . The otherday i decided to go a bit longer. I was going70 -75 for 15-20 min then my bike started slowing downrandomly and i coukdnt speedup. I got off, looked at my bike. I rode it the reat of the way to my destination (no choice). On the ride the bike ran but at high rpms. It took alot of throttle to get it going and wouldnt go fasterthan fourty mph. I checked my oil and it wasflooded with gas. I just changed the,oil and am still having the same problem. And tips?

Oh. And my car just broke down too so i washoping to rely in my gz

Hmm, 2 things come to mind. Your GZ doesn't like that speed very much. Secondly the float in the carb might be sticking and flooding the cylinder so badly that you are washing down the cylinder walls, loosing the seal of the rings and diluting the oil. Old school trick is to tap the float bowl with the handle of a screw driver to loosen up the float. You want to correct the situation soonest or have the engine grenade due to diluted oil and no lubrication.

3 things to check
1 spark plug
2 main jet on the carb
3 valves adjustment

It's hard to diagnose things like this over the internet, but "can't go over 40"., "needs a lot of throttle" and "gas in the oil" smells like a seizing engine. Does it crank over slower than normal with the starter?

Another possibility is that it overheated and the piston rings are shot.

Re: cant go above 40

gas in the oil mean the carb is putting to much gas
check the float and needle, change oil and clean the air box

How to you check if theres gas in the oil?
Would too much oil mess up the piston rings and could that be the problem?

If there is gas in the oil diluting it down you are doing damage to the engine if you run it.If it's over full (fore no apparent reason) & smells strongly like gas.You need to change it.Also check your airbox & air filter for fuel.
