Now that bike's broken, I join ;P
I got my GZ250 in February 2012. It's my first bike and it's been great, but I don't know shit about upkeep and now it's gone and died, I suspect in a couple of different ways.
Anyway, I'm a college student. I'm originally from Oregon, but I study at Texas A&M. I got a bike first and foremost because it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a car, especially on campus parking (plus motorcycles get to park all over the place where as cars only get a permit for a single lot, also bikes can ride on roads that are closed to cars during the day). The coolness factor was definitely a nice bonus though, especially for a geeky girl who was trying to fit in to the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets. My bike's named Cooter in memory of one of my favorite horses that died... Cooter is my only motorized mode of transportation and I work a weekend job out of town, so I ride 'im for hour plus rides on Texas highways (up to 75mph speed limits!), and then on dirt roads... which is always a fun experience... I guess that's it for me n' Cooter. Nice to meet y'all I guess? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

soooo doooo I. Probably the most annoying thing about this whole dealio is that I need my bike up and running before my 2nd job starts up, but I won't have money 'til my 2nd job starts up... haha

Just made a post over in troubleshooting ^^; figured that was the better suited place to put such a thing.
The funny thing is that when it first broke down, I managed to get it to start 2, 3 more times that night. I thought I was close to where I was going, so I'd push it a few miles, then get frustrated and attempt to start it again out of desperation and a few of those times it started... it actually broke down differently a couple of times. The first time it puttered out like it was out of gas (that marked drop in speed then a puttering to death), another time it died when I tried to stop to call and figure out where the hell I was, similarly it cut out when I let off the throttle going down a hill. Much like now the electricity was tetchy while I was pushing, sometimes the light shone fine, others it was dim/flickery. I kept the lights off most of the time I was pushing unless I heard a car coming, then I'd turn them on for visibility (last thing I needed while broken down in the middle of the night Middle-of-Nowhere, Texas was to get squashed by a car.. ) Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Welcome and best of luck, I have a couple thoughts but I'll post them on your troubleshooting post.
Have hope, there are a great bunch of riders here who have helped many people out, including myself. Your cooter will be up and running soon. (that sounded bad) |

Yeah, no, I picked a terrible name, plus it makes me think of my bike as male ('cause a female named Cooter... anyway, the horse was male), which is opposite of normal, I'm not trying to be obstinately feminist/gender-swappy, I swear, but he was a great horse and the horse I rode in the Cavalry, plus the name is firmly settled in my head, so I guess it stays. Haha... maybe I can give it a nickname? Coot? Maybe that sounds too much like Cootch, which is even worse -_-;

I am pretty sure the damage has been done and we have long memories here so just assume we will take it the wrong way for a very long time lol.
We are a very lighthearted bunch so just expect that. |
