Re: Good bye Vstrom

Thank you to all of you. The GZ forum is my favorite because of the folks here. I am still very interested in bikes and lurk on many forums just for general knowledge and hints about riding and wrenching.
This is what lead me to owning a Vstrom for 7 years. Everyone spent time riding and needed very few time outs for wrenching. And the GZ shares some of it's traits. It may be an older simpler design but it is a rider's bike. Few factory warts to plague the owner.
The fellow who bought the Vstrom said a certain model of BMW had a 4 hour teardown just to replace a headlight bulb. A GZ is 5 minutes anytime or anywhere. That is the kind of knowledge to consider when buying a bike. Comparing a GZ and a BMW is kinda weird at best but it hits the wallet big time for a BMW owner. How many GZ owners would pay 4 hours shop time for a headlight bulb change? The answer is 2 times. The first time and the last time.
Back to the start of this reply. The members are great and come from a long line of different bike ownership, both big and small displacements. Some folks only have a GZ while others have a garage full of bikes and the GZ is the errand runner of the bunch. It can also be a somewhat slower touring bike(Lynda proved that)if you ride it with it's capabilities in mind.
It's now 3:00 A.M. almost time for some sleep. Night all.

Heck man, just hang around for the camaraderie. Spent most of your time in the future making jokes and busting people's balls. I'd say you've earned it

Glad you're satisfied with the sale. I always have a sense of loss after I let one go. Right now if the first time I have been without a bike for a period of more than a couple of weeks and I haven't really felt the internal desire to replace it. It's strange. But other things in life sometimes take precedent.

Have you got an old stool in the garage, so that when the urge overtakes you, you can sit astride it and twist the right wrist whilst going "vroom, vroom"?

Don't need a stool. We still have Lynda's M-50 parked downstairs. I can make real Vroom Vroom sounds. Wanna buy it?? You pay for the delivery/shipping of course.

Holy moly, I missed all this! O_o

It's good that you're sticking around though. Maybe things will work out to the riding side again, who knows? In the meantime I'm sure the forum will keep you occupied. :poke2:
