It does come with a mounting kit but you still need something to mount that to.

The "kit" would be better referred to as a base plate. The plate needs to be mounted to something and the trunk attatches to the plate via a quick release.

When I get home this evening I'll give you a picture of everything showing you exactly what I'm talking about.

Sorry it's taken me awhile. I had some stuff to do this afternoon with my little boy.
