New GZ250 Owner with questions
Just picked up a 1999 GZ250 to save on gas. Love it already. I also own a 2005 Harley Deuce, but this little 250 is quickly becoming my favorite toy. Can't wait to start tinkering with it. This forum has already proven itself very useful so I figured I might as well join up. If anyone out there feels like they have some useful info for a new owner I'd appreciate any advice.
The first thing I'm planning on doing is replacing the spark plug, oil, oil filter, air filter, etc. any recommendations on brands or types? Synthetic oil ok? Does anybody out there decarbonize their engines regularly? Anybody try seafoam in their oil? Anything specific to look for as part of a GZ250 tune-up? Thanks, Paul Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: New GZ250 Owner with questions
Hi and welcome! I'm not that experienced as far as technicals so I can't really recommend much, except I do run the Rotella T6 full synthetic and it works well. Also, the air filter isn't usually replaced unless it's done for. Usually it's just blown with an air compressor, but you have to be sure to blow from the outside of the filter in, because that's just how it works. There is a link at the top of the forum to the service manual, which is downloadable.
I put seafoam in the gas, haven't tried it in the oil yet but I've heard that works just great. |

SeaFoam in the fuel will clean any carbon or deposits from the combustion chambers.
