Cannot turn choke off
Hi there all
Hope you are all doing well. From time to time my choke remains permanently engaged and I cannot turn it off. The choke lever works fine but it sometimes has no effect. If I remove the choke from the carb and re-insert it, it usually fixes the problem for a period of time but eventually the problem re-occurs. Is this something anyone else has experienced? Should I just replace the entire choke cable Thanks in advance for your help. It's a great site. Michael Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: Cannot turn choke off
Now that I think of it there was some rusty deposits the when I removed the choke from the carb for the first time. I cleaned them out but the last time I removed the choke from the carb there was more rusty deposits
Those rusty deposits are probably coming down from around the cable. I should probably take the choke completely off, remove the housing from around it and make sure everything is clean. If I can pick up a new choke cable cheaply it may be just as easy to replace the whole thing Thanks for your help Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: Cannot turn choke off
I have honed the choke opening with 400 grit sandpaper in the past, just enough to smooth down spots of aluminum corrosion, and polished the brass choke plunger.
