2006 geezer in progress
i know there are a lot of different styles going around, chopper, bobber, brat... i'm not gonna call this anything but MY style. this is my first bike, bought used in july of last year. had 7400 miles then, around 12,000 now. it's been modified a tiny bit by the p.o. with a drilled muffler and small LEDs for the turn signal idiot lights. just noticed yesterday that it's been in a wreck of some sort along the way, cause the rear fender isn't lined up with the tire, and the bars were bent.
so far, i scored a rear fender, sparto repop taillight, and a set of 4" z bars off ebay. got the fender so i could cut without remorse. i'm happy with how it's going. i don't like how high the fender is above the tire, but there's only so much that can be done with that without going to struts. the color is a satin black plum (purple). i wanted to toss the stock tank for a sporty unit, but frame shape tells me no. more pics to follow emory

Looks cool, like the color. Have you thought about blacking out the engine? Going to do anything with the front fender or just leave it open?

Just noticed - There doesn't seem to be a switch assembly. Have you (A) relocated it. (B) decided not to fit it. (C) Just not got around to fitting it yet? :2tup:

i'm a terrible painter. i considered it, and then looked at all that would be involved. i'm gonna satin black a lot of parts, but probably not the engine or chrome on the fork tubes. its a balance between the boredom of all black and the bling of all chrome
i'll leave the fender off until the first time i get rained on. then i'll look at the situation again

The rear fender misalignment might have been a no-cost factory option. There was a bulletin out for some years about a slightly tweeked rear fender. Some folks just never got around to going in to a dealer for untweeking the fender. Lynda's GZ was just a bit out of alignment and she said forget it.
You could go to a shorter rear shock to lower the bike. Less space between the fender and wheel. I do believe the S-40 has a shorter shock that bolts right on. |

Just did a search for "lowering". Got a thread about a GZ owned by Sharon. She lowered the rear by 1.5 inches using Kawi 125 Eliminator shocks. Good pics posted by another member here too.

didn't think about the eliminator shocks. i've read (on another forum) that a lot of guys use rebel shocks to lower other bikes. 1 1/2 " should be perfect.
the tweak isn't the fender, but the rails. they aren't straight or even; or is this what you meant by the bulletin? it wasn't noticeable with the original uncut fender but is a turd in the punch bowl now. attaching a pic that shows the tweak, as well as the super awesome drilled muffler the p.o. did

As far as I know it was just the fender misaligned. As for the frame rails I wonder if it wasn't just a big heavy weight dropping down on the rear seat. Doesn't really matter now with most stuff cut off.
