Kev, do a little research and you will find some hot spots in Alaska. Just keep in mind that the days are longer in the summer and results in more heating. We also get a much longer twilight in the evening that you would envy. The climate here in Squamish is ideal for just about anyone for any purpose.
Just a little out of date trivia for you. Back in the 70's within a 25 mile radius of Edmonton Alberta there was the greatest temp changes from winter to summer in the world.
