Sudden Power Surge
Lately I am having a "power surge" in my GZ and it is going faster than usual. Before I had to make a lot of effort to get to 70mph (which i usually do not do) but now even in windy days it easily reaches 70mph and more.
I did not loose weight and did not do something new. I change the oil and add additive before but this thing never happened. It is running as before and no funny sounds. Does this mean anything? Any sign of trouble?

Re: Sudden Power Surge
no, nothing to oil, only additive to gas (chem 12). i have no MODS. same bike just with more power but i am loving it.......
i was just concerned that it is not a sign of sudden death for the bike (something for the engine, pistons etc etc.)

Re: Sudden Power Surge
Use that every 4-5 tankfulls and you'll keep your carbs nice and clean and avoid all kinds of unnecessary problems. Put in an inline fuel filter too. Search the forum, cheap and easy and good insurance.

Re: Sudden Power Surge
A sudden surge of power and a GZ 250 certainly are a rare event if you put them together in the same sentence. Oh crap, I just did. Who really knows ? You could have finally cleaned out that last little particle in the fuel system that was always holding it back a bit. Or maybe you finally just broke in the engine to where it is happiest. I had over 5000 miles on my Vstrom when it finally woke up and decided there was another few Horespower to bring out of storage.

Re: Sudden Power Surge
Thanks, carb cleaner might have done some miracle. I was also thinking about the engine break in that it actually happened now (26K) but it is too late so I was just concerned. I will look for the inline fuel filter.
