There also is a copper (?) crush washer for the drain plug that should be replaced as well. I always have both o-rings and the drain plug washer replaced at every oil change.

We're not talkin' big money here, so why not do it right? Never any leaks.

Suzuki calls it a gasket (part number 470153-001), but it's not worth the effort of clicking through another order. You will do just fine without it. Changing the oil is a very rudimentary thing on these bikes since you really don't have to do anything more than drain and refill.

Keeping the mess down is where practice comes in.

I'm not going to respond to Alan, as it appears that the man's questions have been answered.

I will, however, say that Patrick's new avatar is incredibly entertaining.... I lost all focus while watching it.
