Fuel filter!
Here's how I went about putting a fuel filter in that was too large to simply place in.
This was the smallest in-line fabric fuel filter I could find. They had smaller ones that were mesh or sintered bronze but I believe that they would only stop large particles such as bits of your gas tank flaking off, whereas I wanted something more similar to a coffee filter, actually stopping all solid particles (above a certain micron size). Total of $10 for some possible lifespan enhancement! It needed to be placed around that hose coming off the bottom of the carburetor or it would naturally spring out of the side of the bike. Make sure to fully prime the filter with gasoline or it will not provide enough flow rate to keep up with the carburetor at all. I did so by installing as seen, then setting the fuel knob to prime, then squeezing the upper hose a few hundred times to let the air go up into the gas tank. A short test ride confirmed that it doesn't restrict flow to my carb at any speeds or throttle positions. Login or Register to Remove Ads |
