Removing the exhaust

The exhaust on my GZ cracked where the Y pipe is welded. I have welded it back together, but not all the way around the pipe. I have to remove the exhaust to get to it and do it right.

I am having trouble getting out the left side header that is clamped into the Y pipe. I've removed the clamp bolt and soaked it down with WD-40. After that I used the grinder on the part I have welded (it needed to be ground down, and I figured the vibrations may help loosen the clamped piece). I have rapped on it solidly, but don't want to beat on it enough to bend or dent it.

Has anyone done this on an older bike? (Mine is a 2000 and is in Nevada. There is some rust, but not much.) Does anyone have any suggestions to get them separated?
