New 2001 GZ250 Owner
Hi Everyone,
I purchase my 2001 GZ250 from Craigslist about 2 months ago. It had about 4000 miles on it, and is in relatively good condition. I've frequented these forums during that time and found the information here extremely, extremely useful. I just wanted to introduce myself and thank all of the forum members for their contributions. Using the information on the forum, I have done the following maintenance to my bike so far: -Changed the oil (fully synthetic) and the oil filter -Changed the spark plug -Changed the brake light bulb -Cleaned the air filter and drained the "spit valve" I'm planning on doing the following maintenance on my bike in the next couple of weeks: -Adjust the valve clearance (I'm waiting on a mail ordered valve adjustment tool) -Replace several rusted bolts with stainless steel equivalents -Add an inline fuel filter I've also been helping my friend perform maintenance on his 1974 BMW which has been really informative. We just adjusted his valve clearances yesterday. So far I've really been enjoying the GZ250. I weigh about 185 lbs and have had no problems with performance. It seems fine at about 65 mph on the highway, and the acceleration is excellent. I have put about 350 miles on the bike so far, and will be ready to replace both tires in another 600 miles or so. I also took the Motorcycle Safety course here in PA which was really informative. I had a couple of questions regarding potential improvements for the bike that I will ask in another forum. Thanks for the great info, and the forum! Sincerely, Rob Login or Register to Remove Ads |
