Cannot turn choke off

Hi there all

Hope you are all doing well. From time to time my choke remains permanently engaged and I cannot turn it off. The choke lever works fine but it sometimes has no effect.

If I remove the choke from the carb and re-insert it, it usually fixes the problem for a period of time but eventually the problem re-occurs.

Is this something anyone else has experienced? Should I just replace the entire choke cable
