Northwest Georgia

I left Atlanta Thursday afternoon about 3 and decided not to hit the superslab back to my home near Chattanooga. Instead, I decided that I would just navigate by the sun

and head generally North and West from Atlanta until I hit highway 27 and then I'd come on home up 27. I wish I could tell you exactly where I went, but I really can only hit

a few places. I headed out of Atlanta and took the East West Connector then headed out Macland road for a pretty long way. I was in some pretty rural areas for a while

and then I cruised through the old part of Dallas, Georgia. From there I headed up the Cartersville Highway for a while and eventually turned off on a little road called

Chulio Rd. That's a beautiful little road and although it changed names on me a few times, it kept returning to Chulio eventually. I went through a nice twisty road in a

National Forrest, (didn't catch which one, but I'm pretty sure the sign said "_______ National Forrest"). A guy with a sidecar was in front of me for a while going through

the twisties, and it was probably a good thing for me because he was coolin it about 40 mph, and I probably would have hit some of those turns a little fast if he hadn't

been in front of me. I just slowed down and enjoyed the ride. Eventually he turned off and I kept going. Just about sundown I found Highway 27 just south of Rome,

Georgia and so I headed on home. The trip home usually takes me around two hours, this journey lasted about four but I found it to be a very pleasant experience and I'm

glad I did it. Nobody was waiting for me at home so I didn't feel any pressure to get there on any type of schedule and it was kinda nice navigating by direction only

without actually knowing where I was going. I was getting a little concerned that the sun was going down and I hadn't found 27 yet, but it worked out. Nice trip. I don't

often get to just ride to be enjoying the ride, I'm usually heading to work or school or home and it's just a nice way to travel, but I'm rarely at liberty to just take my time

and arrive where and whenever I want to. I figured worst case scenario was having to stop and rent a room at some third rate motel from the 1940's and then buy a map

and head home the next morning.
