As far as the ticks go, here's what I can tell you: They don't fly and they don't jump. They get on you when you brush past, well, brush, or bushes, and the like, where they have been deposited after they got brushed off the deer. When I am hiking or exploring the woods, I try to avoid brushing the brush. I also wear pants, not shorts. And long sleeve shirts. And, once back at the base camp, it's best to check yourself for unwanted stowaways. A final tip: the little bastards like to migrate to the darker, warmer, and, shall we say "moister" parts of your body, if you get my drift. So, if you're alone, ya might need a mirror!

One more good reason to stay the eff on the bike and sleep in a Motel 6.

PS. funny story about the horse. The guide is lucky they shot the horse and not him. Probably looked like a 3 pointer at a distance.
