Yamaha FZ 07

I was browsing the Yamaha website and the FZ 07 caught my eye. It is a taller street bike but one thing struck me as advantageous. A 700cc bike that only weighs in at 400 lbs fully gassed up. A 75 HP bike should be a hoot on the street. And cheaper than most bikes in that displacement category. Could be a lot of fun in the twisties.

Yeah, it is a little fugly but so was my Vstrom and I kept it for 7 years. I have believed in function before form for many a decade with good results. I just reminded myself that I couldn't see it if I was riding it.
I do think Yamaha "blew it" when they didn't offer ABS on the bike. Th FZ 07 could still compete price-wise with ABS. If and when I ever buy a new bike again it will have to have ABS just to make it safer and less prone to a mishap due to unexpected road conditions and traffic.
A good example of this happened to a friend on a big Triumph with ABS. He got jammed up in rainy traffic when 2 cars played musical lanes and left him nowhere to go. He slammed on the brakes and headed for the shoulder of the road. The bike went where he pointed it. Without ABS he might have become roadkill.
