Don't forget that it has long been suggested to run some carb cleaner through every other tank of gas on these bikes. The carb is a solid piece but it's tiny passageways means that even a little bit of grit or varnish can cause you lots of headaches.

Also, an inline fuel filter between the petcock and carb is a huge piece of insurance. It'll keep out a great deal of gunk and they can be replaced each season. It's $4 investment that you don't want to overlook.
