Rear turn signal wiring

Hi, new poster here. I just picked up a 2001 for my wife to learn on. I want to remove the turn signals until she starts riding on the road. I'm guessing the front ones plug in inside the headlight, but if someone could give me a tip as to where to look for the connectors for the rear ones I'm sure it would save me some time.

I am not going to tell you how to remove the turn signals, because you wife isn't going to drop it (and I have no clue about how to do it). Anyway if someone drops the bike and they get bent, just bend them back. I did.

JohnC. Welcome to the forum. A word of advice from some one who has been there. Don't teach your wife to ride. Let a professional do it. A good riding course by a trained instructor is the best. Your personal involvement, fear of crashing and injury will mess up your mind and hers. Instead buy a copy of Proficient Motorcycling by David hough and have the lady in your life read it cover to cover. Buy some good riding gear if she has none and say "Ride Safe."
The one thing I have noticed over the years is that teaching your partner is just teaching them your bad habits.

She has already started MSF training. First round they used 500cc Buel Blasts. Bad choice, IMHO. She personifies "I have to learn at my own pace" and was uncomfortable on the heavier bike, hence the decision to get the Suzuki. She is going for a retake on the same course, with the Buel, next weekend and is signed up for the state course, which uses a variety of 250s, the following week. She wants to practice at home (we have a lot of land with farm roads); she already dropped it once; bent the left front signal. I am not teaching her, just picking it up for her and fixing it. She is also an accomplished bicycle rider.

So, if anyone knows exactly where the connections are, I'd still appreciate the info.

BTW, I have been riding all my life, which is some considerable time, and am old enough to have forgotten all my bad habits!

So where did you pick up the good habits from? Or is it just your own personal opinion that you don't have any bad habits? :popcorn:

However, 45+ years without a serious accident says something...

There, I've jacked my own first thread. I just don't want to have to replace a turn signal before she even gets a license.

OK, if anyone else is interested in pursuing the same harebrained scheme, or just needs to replace a rear turn signal, the connections are under the chrome frame rail covers below the seat.

Well, she finished the MSF course yesterday and has her motorcycle endorsement. Put the mirrors and turn signals back on today along with her new license plate...

She never went back to the course with the Buel. The state course had a variety of bikes and she ended up on another GZ250. All's well that ends well...
