Brand new member/owner/rider.
Hello all, my name's kyle and this past weekend my father and I picked up a 2001 GZ250 as a learning bike for me. I'm 19 and have never ridden before, so I am looking very forward to it. (I'll post a picture in that section.) I have been riding all weekend since we picked it up. We're in Georgia so tomorrow I'm going to go test for the permit. I'm happy to be a member of a new forum (I own a Z71 Tahoe and am a member of a forum for that) so I/we (the X2 in my username is because my father and I will both be using this username) are looking forward to becoming part of another group.

Howdy! Trust me, you'll be much better off and happier after having learned to ride on a bike that is willing to forgive mistakes. I know at 19 it's hard to look at it that way (I'm 21 myself) but it's the truth. Most of the guys in our age-group aren't exactly what you call long-term thinkers when it comes to motorcycles, and very few are realistic about their abilities vs the capabilities of their motorcycle. However you decide to learn and get licensed (through MSF, or on your own) just be careful and don't ride above your limits.
Ride safe

Ya picked a good one to learn on ... and it is a keeper too. I have been up and down the scale with bikes and i settled on th GZ as most practicle (at least for me).. The MSF course is a gas.. and always ride for yourself... do what is comfortable for YOU ... and practice practice practice ...
