Exhaust issues

So the nut and bolt fell off my frame that my muffler was attached to, no problem I will get a new bolt ASAP but I noticed something. The muffler was hanging pretty low as if it was slightly bent and I was having issues with the exhaust almost like it wasn't pushing out through the muffler enough causing issues in the smoothness of the ride. (it would be jumpy as I accelerated).

I am trying to find any cracks in the exhaust, I can't see anything as of now however I can't take the heat shield off because the bolts are pretty rusted so that's another issue.

When I push the muffler up against the frame I don't get the low rumble like when the muffler was bent down. I am really unsure of what to do at this point. I will take any advice I can get.

If the low rumble that you were hearing came when the muffler was in the "bent" position and that was causing your bike to have non-linear acceleration, then the low rumble probably isn't what you want to bring back.

Bolt up the muffler first and then see if there is still a problem.

It may be possible that the weight of the unsupported muffler is putting too much pressure on the joint between the false header and the main pipe and you are getting an exhaust leak around that metal gasket.

Give those rusted bolts a good soaking in WD-40 should loosen them up.

Have you done any other mods ??

If you still have the surging with the muffler back in place, check the air input closely. You may have a leak there somewhere, making for a lean condition. Even the cap on the end of the drain hose is important.
