Bought our first motorcycle today!
Hey ya'll from southeastern IL! My hubby and I (yes, I'm a chick, lol) bought our first motorcycle today. She's got a couple scratches where she's been dropped a few times, but since we're beginners, we don't mind at all. Got her from a wonderful guy in southwestern Indiana.
My dad rode when I was a toddler, and after I turned 18, both my parents got bikes, as my mum started riding. They both have Harlies. My uncle has one too, and now I have a brother-in-law who's rode.. Couple grandparents who rode back in the day.. You could say its in the blood, lol. Hopefully I'll have pictures up pretty soon, my laptop doesn't like to hold a connection, so I'm using the hub's desktop. Its a real pretty blue with silver and blue streaks around the tank, little 2003, came with a windshield, saddlebags and brake/clutch tassel covers (which hubby swears are going to disappear). He will probably move up to a 650 pretty soon, but little person like me, a 250's just fine, at least for now. ![]() Hopefully we'll get to start our local motorcycle training course in the start of July, and I think we'll be taking it out to a not-so-populated area tomorrow. Can't wait!! :2tup: Edit: My number one complaint so far is about gear.. Why do they always think girls want pink? Urgh. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: Bought our first motorcycle today!
Right on, always good to have a new member and a couple is even better. The GZ is an ideal starter bike and all that some folks need.
Gear, yeah, colors can really suck. Check out your local dealers for gear that fits and then ask about different color availability. Try to find a gloss white or bright yellow helmet as they are most noticeable to cagers. Don't be afraid to make a spectacle of yourself. |

Re: Bought our first motorcycle today!
Hi and welcome!! Glad to have you here. The GZ is a perfect first bike. It's fun, affordable, forgiving, capable and just about bulletproof. If you haven't already, maybe you both could take the basic rider's course together! It would be even more fun with a partner there.

Re: Bought our first motorcycle today!
My husband and I took the MC beginner riders course together here in NH a few weeks ago. He's taken over my 83 Honda 450 (its' a ltitle too heavy for me) and I am hoping to look at a gz 250 tomorrow. 2002 with 1500 miles. the guy is asking $1950. does that sound like a good price? I took my course on a honda rebel, and was thinking to buy one of those, but I'm liking what I'm hearing about the gz250. Will be doing mostly secondary roads, but may want/need to hop on the highway once in a while. sounds like the gz250 has a little more pulling power on the hills. Since I live in NH, that's important. Interested in your opinions. Thanks!
