Re: Easter Eggs

Thanks, maybe I'll try that next time (both of those things).
And where do you get alum?

In England (many years ago) we used to get it from the pharmacy. We used it as a waterproofing agent, before reproofing products were available.

Did you just mix it with water and wipe it on?

Very close. Jim paints on the name in a mixture of white olive oil and alum on the hard boiled egg. After it penetrates and dries he does the whole egg in Easter colors.
:??: :??: Oh my, I had a senior moment. The mixture is white vinegar and alum. The vinegar actually makes more sense than olive oil.

Re: Easter Eggs

I knew it, I knew it. Olive oil made no sense, you need some kind of acid to penetrate the shell.
The air is much thinner up there in the far North, leads to senior moments like that from oxygen deprivation.

But it is very clean thin air. Actually home is just slightly above sea level so the air is not thin.

Re: Easter Eggs

I was just kidding about the thin air - trying to blame your senior moment on something other than you. :poke2: :poke2:
When you get some free time (and money) take a trip down here to the beach and sniff our clean air. I even have another bike for you to ride.

Us GZer's (and ex Gzer's) need to meet up somewhere and socialize personally over a brew or two.
Anybody want to arrange a rendezvous or party? Start a poll about where to meet up?

Re: Easter Eggs

We have been doing the Cape San Blast thing for several years now.

The Indian Pass Raw Bar is one of our favorites.

Riding is a little hot for me.

Re: Easter Eggs

So many places to go and see. If money were no object I'd be an international traveller and wear out my passport.
