Just bought 2007 GZ250 w/ 6000 miles!

Hello,

This is my first bike ever  I bought her off of a private seller from Craigslist for $1,200. approx 6000 miles 2007. Runs great and was garage kept. I've been browsing through the beginner forums trying to learn about mistakes, how to properly ride, gear, etc.

This site's been a great deal of help to me! Especially the repair manuals and advice. Just went to Iron Pony yesterday and bought an AGV Sport armor jacket ($20), Zox Thunder R helmet ($45), and full gloves with knuckle protection ($10) from their closeout section.

Look forward to spending some time on these forums with you guys!

Thanks PimpS! I had the hardest time riding her home lol. I read some funny stories about people getting their bikes home for the first time. Mine was definitely no different. No previous experience riding prior and taking the bike 30+ minutes away was definitely something I won't forget for a while lol.

Welcome to the family.Nice looking bike. You really should take a riding course,so you can learn to ride safely & properly, without picking up any bad riding habits.

Re: Just bought 2007 GZ250 w/ 6000 miles!

Thanks! Yeah, I signed up for our local MSF course (It's called BRC here in Ohio and only $25 for 4 hrs in class and 12 hrs on bike instruction). Unfortunately while buying this bike in the winter, I have to put it in storage for the next 2 months so it doesn't get rained/snowed on

The engine also tends to shut off while idling at a red light. I'm guessing the idle speed may need to be turned up? I'm gonna get an oil change and valves adjusted at our local Iron Pony soon. Also going to put some Stabil in her for the winter.

Idle speed should be 1200 rpm when warm.

It stinks that the bike doesn't have an tachometer... I can't tell if it's idling at the right rpms...

The best I can explain it is,as a fast idle on your car.
