Some vids i shot with the GoPro Hero HD

Still trying to tweak this thing to get better video quality. I dont know if its the sun, vibration or what but one i get good another gets kinda crappy.

The sun was putting a beating on the camera lens --

You have a very nice area to ride around in. Maybe one day I will get to your neck of the woods on a trip.
The camera does a fine job compensating for the shadows and bright sunshine in the 2nd vid. I doubt you will get better footage unless there are really big $ spent on a camera. Thanks for sharing your countryside.

Re: Some vids i shot with the GoPro Hero HD

I love those roads. I have a lot of them around where I live too. The only thing is I'm constantly watching for some critter to dash out of the bushes and trees in front of me - either a deer, a wild pig or boar, coyote, armadillo (they go slow, usually a mama and 4 babies in tow), or a turtle or alligator on the road, or a bunch of vultures eating road kill.
And, no ATGATT, our trusty admin, owner of us all? At least you could have put on the armored jacket for the video (J/K, LOL).
Those are quality vids, nothing wrong with the camera or the sun. What do you have the camera mounted on, the fork or crash bar? Mine is usually mounted on the mounting bar to the windshield, sometimes on the mirror stalk.
Do you think the quality is just as good with those HD keychain cameras you got? Can the GoPro can take a larger memory card?

Re: Some vids i shot with the GoPro Hero HD

Camera is mounted on the tank with a suction cup for all 3 vids. I have to get a bar attachment so i can put it elsewhere on the bike. The GP will take any size card. They hd keychain only goes up to 8gb.

I haven't even tried that HD keychain yet. The thing that sucks with that is the wind noise.

And no, i don't do ATGATT. That was even a treat for me to wear the non DOT german helmet. Only reason was to keep the sun off my face. I sweat profusely, so wearing more than i need beyond jeans, is a good thing. otherwise i would be soaked from head to toe in sweat. That and i just choose not to suit up.

Re: Some vids i shot with the GoPro Hero HD

I like the content of the second one a lot better (Swamp Creek) than the first. The reality is, video of "regular" riding, get's old kind of fast. I think to make an interesting video you have to mix up the footage - use some from the bike mounted cam, some of someone shooting you from a car perhaps, and... a couple of helicopter shots wouldn't hurt!

Also I'd like to see the Swamp Creek one set to Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries...

That's got to be a helluva suction cup. You're not worried it'll blow off in the wind?
There's no vibration at all where you have it mounted and the view is pretty good.
The other place I've mounted a camera is to the short stalk on the front marker light.

Re: Some vids i shot with the GoPro Hero HD

The suction cup is very heavy duty. Consists of a button to press it against the surface and then a lock that pulls it up creating a vacuum that sticks it like glue. I've seen some vids where they suction cup to the outer windshields of drag cars at local strips. If they can handle 100+mph and that kind of vibration .. they should be ok on the bike.
