Ian Anderson
Interviewed Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson last month. (There is motorcycle related content!)
I know there's at least a few musicians on here - some good observations from a guy with a 40 year career (and Metallica's Heavy Metal Grammy!) http://ocmusicscene.com/?p=1340

Re: Ian Anderson
Thanks WW. If you have a FB account we'd love it if you "shared" it with your circle of FB friends. The more traffic we can build on the site, the more we can attract good interviews and the more we can get the word out on our fellow local Orange County musicians.

Re: Ian Anderson
Sorry to say I don't have FB, Twitter or any other social networking other than bike forums and good old E-mail.
Gotta a question for you though. Have you ever been to a Jim Byrnes concert or had the pleasure of meeting him ? We attended his show last year in Squamish and I for one found him to be a fascinating individual with his comments leading up to his music and singing. And this year we had free tickets and totally missed it by a week due to a senior moment. |

Re: Ian Anderson
I am friends with a *Bobbo* Byrnes (see interview on OC Music Scene: http://ocmusicscene.com/?p=457 ) but I do not know Jim Byrnes. Most of the music shows I go to these days are of the small coffeehouse variety. When my daughter was a bit younger, we went regularly to Lollapalooza and Coachella, but it's not an activity for an out of shape old man. I also don't care much for the bulk of the "fans" at large scale events. Many are inebriated and out of control and not really there for the music. Lots of potential for fisticuffs and getting crushed by mobs. The last concert I went to was a free hour of Mahler at the Chicago Cultural Center - worth at least twice the price of admission!
The Tull people said they are going to put my piece on the official website. Yay!

Re: Ian Anderson
Thanks 5th. I'm not only an amateur musician, I'm also an amateur journalist, so it's nice when things come out good!

Re: Ian Anderson
Jim Byrnes is the fellow who co-starred on the Immortals. Walks with 2 canes in real life too. He does smaller gatherings and is a joy listen to for a couple hours.
Scratch that. It was the series called Highlander with Adrian Paul as an Immortal. |
