Finally got it running last night!

Well, I have officially upgraded from a chainsaw, to a riding mower! I fired up the GZ for the first time last night and, the first thing my wife said was "It's sounds like a lawn mower."

Somebody laid her down in the past

My previous bike was/is a GT380 two-stroke triple - which my wife says sounds like a chainsaw. Here's some pics of my trusty old girl.

I love the up-swept pipes on the older bikes!

Love those old 2 stroke triples. Had the last of the 750 Triple Water Pumpers. Awesome sounding bikes.

Re: Finally got it running last night!

WW, I've always wanted a Water Buffalo/Kettle but, just can't afford one. They've come WAY up in value. To find one running in decent condition is no less than $3500. I agree with you about the sound - kinda mean! I do like the little bikes though - so much easier to throw around :2tup:

Gas mileage suffers though - I've been getting 26mpg with the 380. Desperately need the GZ - 50 mile round trip to work. O_o

None of the triples got real good gas mileage but they were a hoot. I traded mine off after a year and will never forgive myself. They were a very low maintenance bike with no valves, no oil filter to buy plus being just a bit different than the rest of the crowd.

Cooteboy~

Nice old Bike.

Back in the 90s when the Japanese Economy was doing
a lot better there was a huge influx of Japanese Bikes
being bought in America ( larger displacement ones )
and shipped back to Japanese Collectors with $$$.

Strelok - thanks! :2tup:

Advant63 - Lucky! I must say,I'm a bit jealous. I love my little 380 but, have always contemplated a bigger GT. Have you owned/rode both? Just wondering what the 550's like in comparison.

Well, my GZ achieved 73mpg it's first time out! Sadly, the second tank was only 64mpg - which consisted of several 50 mile days in heavy rain and wind. I'm hoping that was most of the reason for the severe drop. Time will tell.

That's about normal. 73mpg seems a bit high.
