Looking for a black tank

The person that I got the bike from let the bolt at the rear of the tank get loose. When I got the bike I tightened it, but the damage was already done in the form of a crack that seeped gas. It has gone from bad to worse and I need a new tank. I check ebay, but there are not a lot of GZ250 tanks there. Will another Suzuki tank work in the 250s place?

You can always do a chopper style fix by rigging the tank from another bike on there, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Have you tried Ronayers.com? I always use them for my OEM parts.

If the tank was about the same size and would only require me to tack on the rear tabs I can do that.

When I bought the bike one of the bolts on the tank was loose. I bought it and tightened the bolt, but the tank must have developed a small hairline crack. Tried to patch it with some tank patch junk, and then ended up taking the bolt tabs off to get at the leak. Then while welding the hole I dropped the tank off the bench and put a large dent in it. Now even if I fix the tank I need a new one. This is one of those projects that just goes down hill and no mater what you do it just keeps going.

Sorry to hear about that.

A replacement fuel tank on Ronayers is about $450, which is pertty steep.

Let me look around and I'll see if I can't help you find a blank universal tank. Would you be able to drill the holes required for tapping in your stock petcock?

I'll get back to you.

this would be my first choice. The cream of the crop. This is a GZ250 gas tank.

Wow that is a lot of help. I went to bed thinking that someone would reply, but wow. I sent the guy with the red gz250 tank an e-mail a day or two back, but have yet to hear from him. If I could pick it up cheap, I would be willing to live with it until I could find a black one.

Well, if you get it for under $100 you would be getting a great deal.

If you want to stay cheap and still have a black tank, I'd suggest having the thing sand blasted and just painted flat black. It would serve as a very sutiable stand-in while you wait for a OEM replacement.

Just my $0.02
