Idle problem
I recently got a 2005 GZ250. It had 3500 miles on it. I put on about 900 so far. I just started having a problem with the engine racing while I'm stopped, once the engine is warm after riding for a while. If I let off on the clutch just a little it idles down a bit. I'm new to this forum and thought I might get some help. Thanks

Re: Idle problem
Thanks for the replies. The choke lever seems to move ok and I have tried turning down the idle with the adjustment. I was going to remove the air cleaner and spray carb cleaner in the intake. Is that ok to do on a bike carb? I can also spray the lever with wd-40. Like I said it idles fine until I ride for a while and then stop for a light or stop sign then it races. As for the vacuum leak, how do I fix that?

Re: Idle problem
Your choke is probably gummed up at the carb end.Dissemble with a 14mm wrench, check spring and plunger for proper movement as this is a common problem on suzuki.A vacuum leak you should be able to hear as there is only one vacuum hose between carb & petcock

Re: Idle problem
Thanks for the reply. I don't hear a vacuum leak so I'll give the carb choke cleaning a try.

Re: Idle problem
Well I removed the air filter and sprayed Gumout in the carb, let it run, and adjusted the throttle cables. Seems to be okay now and hope it stays that way. Thanks again for the help.
Now I'm looking for saddlebags that will fit my bike that aren't too big and ugly looking. (make and model) |
