nevermind fellas... upon further investigating i found out the speedo cable snapped so its an easy fix

Make sure the speedo cable is well lubed.

The speedometer cable also needs to be properly "seated" when you put it back in, that might be what caused it to break.

As luck would have it i found a really decent looking speedo gear and cable on EBAY
threw in a rear axle and a rear brake line for 28 bucks off a 1500 mile gz from 2004 and im set !

the speedo gear looked like hell anyways and the 2 teeth that i didnt line up properly when re-installing the wheel are warped and filed down.. and for 10 bucks who can go wrong really...
