Re: me & my Thunder 250

That's one great looking bike! I notice the pegs are more or less below the seat, as opposed to forward - cruiser style as on the GZ250. It also looks to be a somewhat more comfortable seat, although that could be deceiving. How high is the seat from the ground? I'm wondering if it would be cramped for a person 6 feet tall. I have to say, my first impression is "I want one!".

Thanks for posting - much sexier looking version than ours. I will assume yours goes faster and gets better mileage as well.

Welcome to the forum. Great pics highlighting some differences. One thing I noticed is a larger headlight.

Re: me & my Thunder 250

Wow, just Googled a Suzuki 250 Thunder, got some pics of various 250 bikes. Lo and behold one of the bikes had a center stand. Might have to order from Indonesia but they are made for the 250 bikes. If the frames are truly the same there is hope for those wanting a center stand. There are also mag wheels fitted to these bikes instead of spoked rims. GS 250, GSR 250 are variants we do not see here in North America.

yeah it sure is a nice bike... :rawk: at first i bought a honda tiger cb200cc bike but the riding style doesnt fit me, make me crampled all the way. then i change to thunder 250 and the moment i ride it is the moment i feel in love with this bike as i feel much comfortable riding it. i often cruise to different cities with less pain in my back...

although this bike is good, unfortunately suzuki discontinued this bike in 2006 after it first appearance in 1999. i dunno why but maybe because the market here wasnt prepare for the first 250cc bike that challenge the booming of honda tiger cb200cc back on those days. people here assumed that the spare part is expensive, but i think not. it is quite competitive price compare to tiger 200. now from 2008 after the ninja 250 booming the market, people starts looking for this bike...hehehe...anyway if you want to add your bike collection, i can search it for u..

oia one more thing, the bike really make me proud is that it has been appointed as tour de Indonesia bicycle race marshal official from suzuki where the bicyle racers are from all over the world. thunder 250 gain trust as race marshal from the first time the yearly championship started! the bicycle race distance is from jakarta to bali, but start in neighboring city jakarta, bandung.

here's the thunder 250 spec:
overall length X width X height: 1.975 x 765 x 1.075 mm; ground clearance: 1.310 mm; dry weight : 132 kg; front suspension: Teleskopik; rear suspension: swing arm, dual shock; front tire: 3.00 x 18; rear tire : 120/80 - 17; front brake: hydraulic disk; rear brake: drum; fuel capacity: 15 Liter; engine type : inline 4 OHC, TSCC, air cooler; bore x stroke: 72 x 61,2 mm; Volume : 249 cc; compression: 9,0 : 1 ; ignition system : CDI; carburetor: Mikuni BSR 32 mm; max power : 20 dk / 7.500 rpm; max torgue: 2,1 kg-m / 6.000 rpm; clutch: Manual , wet sump; transmision: 5 kecepatan

with it standard spec i once reached 140km/hour (maybe 90m/h?) but my friends once score 160km/hour...sure it is a fast bike, the challengers in here is the ninja 2stroke 150 and 4stroke 250 but in a 100m distance and once in sentul international circuit 2 thunder 250 bike competed with ninja 250 in the free for all championship and the thunder finished position 17 out of 25 ninja 250...:p but to be frank the real challengers for this bike on the street is honda cb200cc and yamaha scorpio 225cc as those bike is a cruise type, and suzuki surely win in term of long distance race and durability.
