Hi Everyone from the new guy in Massachusetts

Hello! I have been a fan of this website for about a year now and today I finally decided to "join". I am on my forth bike... I started off with a 1999 GZ250 but sold it after about six months to get a Marauder 800 (bigger is better, right?). A year after that, I bought a brand new Honda VTX 1300 (bigger is better, right?). Well guess what? I sold that last year and bought another Suzuki GZ250. Turns out I had the most fun on my first bike and wanted another one. This time, I bought a "slightly used" 2001 with only 1800 miles on the odometer (what a find!). I polished her up, added some chrome, and I am a happy camper again. I absolutely LOVE that thing. It is my green machine. I will post some photo of it a little later on.

You and I (and probably others) are living proof that bigger isn't always better.
It took me about 40 years to wise up; you figured it out a lot sooner.

Thanks man... The thing is that I just feel "safer" on a smaller bike. On my bigger, heavier machines, I simply did not feel as though I had as much control as I do on my 250. I guess most bikers would clasisfy me as a whimp because I really do not feel comfortable traveling faster than say 50 or 55 miles per hour. When I get to those speeds it is as if my guardian angle taps me on the shoulder and says "SLOW DOWN BUDDY". Needless to say, most of my riding is around town /back roads as opposed to highways. There is nothing worse than someone tailgating you at high speeds. Especially when you look in the mirror and see a cell phone stuck to their face.

Anyway, my GZ suits me perfectly... and I am happy to be a Loony Bin Member!

Is Northbridge near Boston? That is one tough town for traffic.

I'll take that check!!! Northbridge is kind of near Boston. About 50 miles southwest. Same percentage of idiot drivers.

I bought my GZ as a "40's crisis" present for my self.

Before I got the miniature golden handcuff on my finger I used to ride Ducatis and hypersports rice rockets... The wife (an ICU nurse) put an end to that more than a decade ago.

The GZ dosent scare her as much - and I get to ride a very cool machine... I just left the rat race and every mile I get smile...

Thanks for the welcome Tuval. I am in my 40's as well and going through the same crisis... I wear the same style handcuff too! My wife is also pretty cool when it comes to my GZ. She was never one to want to ride on the back of any of my bikes. And taking one of my kids for a ride; FORGET ABOUT IT!

That is another reason that I was drawn to the GZ. Perfect for solo riding. My passanger seat was taken off the day I brought it home.

Congratulations on having left the rat race... I envy you. I can't wait for my day to come. I have to finish paying off the house and making two colleges a little bit richer for my kids first! Oh well...

Hi David, you are right about how much fun the GZ is to ride, I always got a very big smile on my face while riding mine.
