Stickers
Has anyone taken off the stickers on the side covers? The ones that say "GZ 250" on each side. On my '06 they're actually two stickers - one that says "GZ" and the other that says "250". I took off all the ones on the gas tank just a couple of days after I brought the bike home, but didn't do anything with the side labels. I'd like to take them off before the color fades around them. Any ideas are appreciated and will result in buying a cold one if we ever meet up, too.

Most of the time stickers can be removed with some heat from a hair dryer and a plastic card like a credit card. I have removed a few stickers this way. Take your time. Some folks also just slowly pick at it with a finger nail but that takes longer. Different stickers will take more or less time - it just depends. Once the sticker is off there will probably be a little residue glue. Some WD 40 and a soft cloth should take care of that. Then a little wiping and waxing to finish the job.

To remove the gas tank stickers, I used a little $10 heat gun and some patience. When I tried this same method on the side stickers, they would just tear. The stretchiness of those stickers isn't the same. Or, maybe it was just me trying to work in the cold.
I would NOt suggest alchohol, as it will mess up your paint. Bill's suggestion of WD40 and a chamois will be just fine. Stay away from razorblades too. -Jonathan Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I could not get my tank decal off using the above described methods and then one day I let it sit in the sun in a parking lot and the tank got very hot. The decal was soft and came right off. Unfortunately not in one piece.
I'm just to big of a chicken when it comes to heat guns and paint especially when I have one you can light charcoal with in a pinch. |

Well, the answer was - hair dryer and wd-40. It took all of 5 minutes to get the things off both sides. Now I've got some "Live to Ride" emblems on the way from JCWhitney. Should look great!
Thanks for the hints, gents, and if we should ever meet up, I'll take care of the first round! Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Has anyone gotten the Suzuki logos of the sides of the gas tank? The newer models have plastic emblems or something but the older models have Suzuki stickers. Are these under the clearcoat or can they be removed?

Take a look at it in bright light. If the edges look smoothed over the decal then its probably clear coated over.

Tried the hair dryer/WD-40 combination myself and worked like charm on the side stickers. The big warning label on the tank didn't work out so smooth. Plus I wasn't too keen on heating up the gas tank. That one took a bit of time. Problem is once you start you can't really stop without it lookin like crap.

I took off my stickers today and had no problem with the GZ 250 stickers. The warning sticker on the gas tank came off alright but left a sticky residue. I used Charcoal lighter fluid (Naptha) to get it off. There is still a ring around where the sticker used to be like a harder substance. I haven't scrubbed too hard but am thinking I might have to resort to careful use of a razorblade for this. Any other suggestions?
