I don't use a chain oiler. I use WD-40 chain cleaner and WD-40 chain lube. Most products our there will do the job. Everyone has their own preference.

Chain oilers will extend chain and sprocket life a great deal. I would suggest a heavier engine oil, 30 or 40 weight to help prevent any fling. Remember a little oil not a lot is needed when using an oiler.
