Bike won't throttle up.
Just brought my 2001 GZ250 out after winter. Bike started up pretty good with no problems but as soon as I throttle up it died. Put some carb cleaner in the tank and worked the throttle a bit and it started reving up. But it only revs half way and then goes up and down from the half max throttle to a lower throttle over and over. I tried feeding it carb cleaner directly and working the throttle more but I can't get it to go past half throttle. Is there a high throttle jet that won't unclog?
I emptied the take before storing it away for winter but only on idle. Do I have to rev it up while it's running out next time? Thanks for your guys help! Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Tank should always be filled to the top when storing(Less chance of condensation & rust)..Sounds like a plugged jet....Try some fresh fuel & SeaFoam & go for a ride......Sometimes sitting over night also helps.....May save you doing a carb clean. If you meant carb.....I never drain it either....Just shut the petcock off.

Main circuit partially or fully clogged.
If Blaine's advice doesn't work then the carb will have to be pulled and properly cleaned. Never get carb cleaner down into the engine. It predetonates hard and is hard on the motor. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Any bike that sits for an extended time should have the following.
A full tank of hi octaine no ethanol gas with Sta-Bil in the tank also. Run the bike long enough for the gas to get to the carb or injectors to dose the entire fuel system. Any gas with ethanol will eventually separate and the ethanol will stick to surfaces in the fuel system. |
