Have you considered a larger windshield to give you the wanted coverage and then painting the lower portion. That might give you more options.

Actually I have thought about doing that exact thing and layering on several coats of paint to give it the solid look. I am not opposed to doing that either, I just haven't ever come across a fairing that has the same look like the one I posted about. :/
