Attaboy! I've had 3 relatives that I know of suffer maladies of some sort, and instead of doing their rehab and getting back to what they were, they let the muscles atrophy and, in one case, someone actually lost the use of their arm... Walking through the discomfort is commendable. As long as it doesn't hurt to the point of falling down dead, then it's probably good for your muscles
An excellent item for something like what you're dealing with are these small stationary pedal machines. You simply put it in the floor in front of you and even while you are sitting down, you can pedal and build up some muscle strength and increase your range of motion in the lower portion of the leg while diminishing impact pain. I usually get them at health supply stores, but I don't know if that's an option for you. If it's not, they're all over the place online. Update!!!! I've just had a phone call to say that they're coming to pick me up at nine tomorrow morning, and I'm to have physiotherapy three times a week :- Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'll keep you posted.

It's my third week of physiotherapy, and I'm walking much better now, so yesterday I thought I'd see if I might be able to ride again. The bike's been standing for three months, so I charged up the battery, and it started first time. I took a ride round the underground parking, but, unfortunately, I found that I couldn't operate the shift easily, because of my leg. Oh well, summer's here, but it doesn't look like I'll be riding for a while yet.

Ahhh, the sound of a little Gz motor waking up after a long rest. It makes your heart happy, doesn't it?
No tears, buddy. Rehab can be a long process. Fact is, despite some difficulty, you DID ride around a little bit. So that's a step in the right direction. Range of motion will only increase with more therapy. You can even try mentally practicing the shifting motion with your left foot while sitting on the sofa watching re-runs of MASH. |

Alantf, Rehab can be a real bitch, but well worth the effort. Over the years I have been in rehab more times than I care to remember. Each time I pushed myself harder than what was expected of me. Always proved doctors wrong when they told me I would never be able to do this or that again. From what I have read, you have the right frame of mind. Keep a smile on your face and keep going. Humor is the best thing for pain.
