Choke cable problem

Does anyone knows how to change the choke cable? Is it too complicated?? I was going to warm up my bike when I pulled down the choke lever and it became loose... I unscrewed the part of the handle bar to see if I was able to do something but I just see that it goes all the way to under the tank. If any one can help me please. Thank you.

With a little luck the choke cable just came loose at the carb. If it is actually broken or damaged the replacement is pretty simple. Start by removing the tank and tracing the choke cable.

Easy to remove the tank. I do not have any recent experience to tell you the fool proof method but some one else with a GZ will be a long shortly. A minimum number of tools and some common sense is all that is required. Don't sweat it. You will be laughing at your apprehension after you have finished.

Oh yeah. Take some pics for yourself as you do the job. It does give you more confidence having something to look at to see if it is right. Works for me.

No, not at all. Six easy steps:
Remove the seat.
Remove the two bolts holding the back tab of the tank.
Remove the two (as I remember) rubber lines from the tank to the carb (at the carb).
Lift the tank up from the front, so you don't scratch it.
Put it down on something that won't scratch the bottom.
Wonder why it was so easy.

Are you sure OldNTired?? My memory tells me to lift the rear of the tank a couple inches and pull the tank to the rear to get the tank off of the front tank mounts on the frame.
Any other members out there for clarification? We don't the OP trying the impossible.

I always remove the fuel and vacuum lines at the petcock, to reduce fuel loss.

The choke cable screws into the left side of the carb. You can remove it there without messing with the tank, at least to see if it is broken.
