Cylinder Head Removal
Has anyone tried to remove the Cylinder Head without removing the engine from the frame?? I am thinking of trying it, I removed the cylinder cover successfully and measures the cylinder head piece and it looks like there may be enough clearance?? I am not sure because the engine sits on an angle.....so I was wondering if anyone tried and was or was not successful.....Thanks....

The best advice I can give, besides keeping track of which holes the bolts come out of (they are different lengths), is to get all of the wiring and cables out of the way using plastic ties. You will have to twist and turn the head a bit after lifting it as far as you can, but it can be done. Oh, one other thing: try your best NOT to drop the timing chain into the bottom of the engine! Use another plastic tie to keep it from falling. Good luck, and have patience. |

Re: Cylinder Head Removal
Thank you both for your response....I have already had the cover off, and was thinking the head would clear, but having some confirmation from you, makes me feel a lot better about it..... I wish I could get my sound file up so you can hear how horrible this bike sounds....nobody can figure out the noise.....So, I decided it's going to be "off with her head"....lol
By the way, I have read some GN250 parts art interchangeable with the GZ250, do you happen to know if the camshaft and rocker arms are? I am looking at ordering this from China? Suzuki tells me the camshaft and rockers only interchangeable for 1999-2009 gz250's only....Is this true? Has anyone put a Gn250 set on their gz250? http://www.aliexpress.com/item/NEW-FREE ... 52524.html |
