Basic Question re Main Jet Upgrade
I've just about made up my mind to do the needle jet / main jet / air filter mods described in this forum to boost my freeway performance. I'm committed enough to do my research and maybe buy a few supplies.
When I went Googling for a Suzuki Mikuni 140 main jet, I quickly realized there were a wide range of jets answering that description, Short ones, Long ones, Round ones, Hex ones, even plastic ones. It's obviously important to get the right one. What's a more complete description of the jet I need to buy, so I don't end up with the wrong thing? Cheers! Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: Basic Question re Main Jet Upgrade
I suggest you take out the one in the bike and bring it with you to any motorcycle repair shop/garage. They will have plenty. I ordered mine by phone and went to pick it up, brought it home, took out the one on the bike and tried to put the new one in but couldnt. Why ? Cause the threads were different. I was pissed.

Back in 2008 Lynda needed 3 spokes for the rear wheel. Had to buy a full pack of 36. Not impressed with GWN prices. $140. |

Re: Basic Question re Main Jet Upgrade
Ah, the picture and the keyword "small" give me a lot of confidance in finding the right part. I'm really looking to mail-order the parts. I just don't want to take an hour out of my Saturday to ride to the dealer.
I see eBay sellers have then at $6 each or 4/$10 - intended for quad carbs, I suppose. It hardly makes sense to buy just one. |

Re: Basic Question re Main Jet Upgrade
You don't have to ride the bike over there, if there is a local shop.
Walk into the parts dept, ask to look at some main jets and see if they'll let you just pick some out. That's what I do. Ebay is also good. That's how I got one for the Scooter one time. I'm not the most patient person but it all worked out in the end. |
