do bike mods affect resale value?

anyone tried to sell a bike with performance mods done to it (specifically, re-jetting the carbs and a freer-flowing air filter)?

i want to mess with mine a bit but i plan on selling after not too long and i'm wondering if i should risk it.

has anyone had a negative experience with this?

IMHO, if done right, I've seen no effect on resale or trade in. It doesn't seem to add value either.

Hack jobs tend to decrease value, of course, but quality parts don't, in my experience.

Quality aftermarket parts aren't going to increase the value either. Some people, especially in the bike scene, tend to name off 100 different mods and think that it makes their bike more valuable.

The only time that I have been able to sell vehicles a little higher than normal is when I have just had new necessary things done, like new tires.

I think is also has to do with what mods you do and to find the right buyer that likes what you have done. Some things I have done probably will make it hard to sell but I will worry about that if the time comes.

Just thinking about my bike, I have no doubt that saddlebags and a windshield will increase the value, but mods like an NGK Iridium spark plug or SBS ceramic brake pads probably won't.
