The HJC CL-MAX is a modular and only a bit more than the CL-16. Also quieter than my CL-16. Still wear ear plugs to protect what's left of my hearing. Got a white modular cause it is more noticeable in traffic.

Re: New helmet

I kinda think I would like either yellow or white. Is the Hawk 1198 any good?

It is DOT approved=Good. You still need a test fit if one is handy in your area.
webbikeworld.com does some very good evaluations on helmets with lots fitment tips and comments. Their site makes for some excellant reading about all sorts of gear. They tell it whether the news is good, bad or ugly.

Re: New helmet

After breaking 2 pair of sunglasses trying to shove them through the visor opening, I'm really happy with my drop down internal sun shield. I love being able to flip it up or down while riding depending on the position of the sun, etc.

I just wish it was polarized. I love that effect of polarized glasses where you can tilt your head and make the sky darker or lighter blue, and the road surface shinier or darker.
